Andrea Stinson Retirement Letter To The WNBA

After much deliberation, I have decided to retire after nine successful years with the Women’s National Basketball Association.

I have enjoyed my career as a shooting guard with the Charlotte Sting and the Detroit Shock. I am honored to have been a part of helping to launch this league and helping provide opportunities for the younger generation of girls to follow their dreams.

To learn last week that I have been nominated for the WNBA All-Decade team is just the icing on the cake of what has been an incredible experience for me these past nine years.

I wish to thank everyone for their support throughout the years of my career and especially to the former president Val Ackerman; the current president Donna Orender; and especially David Stern for his support continued of the WNBA.

To the many coaches and managers that have enhanced my career, and my agents of Bruce Levy Associates for their time and dedication of 14 years.

To the former Charlotte Hornets Organization, the Bobcats Organization and to the Detroit Pistons Organization for welcoming me with open arms.

To my teammates who have been with me through the ups and downs, such as Dawn Staley, Charlotte Smith, Allison Feaster, Tammy Sutton-Brown and Vicky Bullett.

I would like to thank all of my many family members, especially my mom and younger brother who have always been there for me no matter what.

To the fans, who have never let me down no matter the outcome or circumstances of the event, game or the season. You have truly been the backbone of my career, and throughout the years, you have shown me love no matter what. There is no way I could ever thank you enough for the love you have shown me over the years.

Thank you to the media, who have shown my love for the game of basketball to all those who could not attend the games. You have truly been a blessing to someone out there, my family and me.
