Sting Set Opening Night Roster

With a solid mix of veterans and young players, the Sting have set their 2006 opening night roster at 12 players heading into tomorrow's season opener at 6:00 p.m. against Chicago at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Charlotte returns a core group of veteran players including last year’s leading scorer Tangela Smith, as well as Sheri Sam and Helen Darling. Center Tammy Sutton-Brown is back for her sixth season in a Sting uniform, while Allison Feaster makes her return to the court after missing the last 11 games of the 2005 season due to pregnancy.

In addition, the Sting added several new faces through the WNBA Draft, selecting Monique Currie from Duke with the third overall pick, Tye’sha Fluker from Tennessee with the 10th selection and LaToya Bond with the 27th overall pick.

WNBA rosters can consist of up to 13 players. Eleven players are designated as active for each game while up to two players can be placed on the inactive list. Players can move freely between the active and inactive lists throughout the season.
