The Sting kicked off their 10 Days of Caring with a Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself rally on May 10 at First Ward Elementary.

To celebrate their 10th anniversary and thank the city of Charlotte for its support, the Sting embarked on a 10-day community outreach effort that began on Wednesday, May 10. As part of the 10 Days of Caring, the Sting hosted at least one event in the Charlotte community daily until their season opener on Saturday, May 20, at Charlotte Bobcats Arena against Chicago.

    RALLY KICKS OFF 10 DAYS OF CARING
    May 10, 2006 - One hundred fifth graders at First Ward Elementary experienced an afternoon of games, fun and education as the Sting tipped off their 10 Days of Caring community outreach effort with a Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself rally.

    May 13, 2006 - Sting community relations ambassador Andrea Stinson and mascot Buggsy stopped by the AAU Girls Basketball Tournament at McClintock Middle School to meet with fans, sign autographs and give a few pointers to the girls.


    STING MAKE SPECIAL DELIVERY
    May 14, 2006 - Sting community relations ambassador Andrea Stinson and members of the Sting staff made a special delivery of pastries and flowers to the mothers at the Salvation Army Women & Children's Shelter during their Mother's Day Breakfast.


    STING CELEBRATE NATIONAL POLICE DAY
    May 15, 2006 - Sting players Caity Matter, Janel McCarville and Tasha Butts and community relations ambassador Andrea Stinson delivered cookies to a local police department on National Police Day.


    SUTTON-BROWN VISITS A BETTER WORLD AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
    May 16, 2006 - Sting center Tammy Sutton-Brown made a visit to A Better World After School Program to talk to 60+ kids from grades K-8 the importance of getting a good education.

    May 16, 2006 - Janel McCarville and community relations ambassador Andrea Stinson dropped by Elizabeth Traditional Elementary School to throw a lucky class of third graders a party.

    STING HOST LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
    May 17, 2006 - Sting players Kelly Mazzante, Ayana Walker and LaToya Bond and community relations ambassador Andrea Stinson grabbed their shovels and rakes and donned their work gloves to help the students at Park Road Montessori School brighten their school grounds with a landscape improvement project.

    DARLING PART OF MUSCLE TEAM 2006
    May 17, 2006 - Sting guard Helen Darling joined Bobcats Matt Carroll and Kevin Burleson, Bobcats mascot Rufus Lynx and Sting mascot Buggsy at Muscle Team 2006, a private event to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Wednesday, May 17, at Bank of America Stadium. Athletes were paired with a child who has a neuro-muscular disease, and throughout the night, the athletes and their buddy played games and participated in interactive entertainment, such as videogames, putt-putt and pop-a-shot.

    May 18, 2006 - The Sting continued to bring smiles to children’s faces, as players Helen Darling and Monique Currie teamed with community relations ambassador Andrea Stinson for a Reading Timeout at the Simmons YMCA.
