Parker Named Team USA Finalist

Sparks forward Candace Parker has been named as one of 21 finalists for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team. If Parker is selected to represent the United States in London, it will be her second straight Olympic Games and she'll have an opportunity to help her country win a fifth consecutive gold medal.

Sparks Sign Alana Beard

The Sparks have signed four-time WNBA All-Star Alana Beard to a free agent contract. Beard - a 5’11” guard/forward who is one of the WNBA's most community-minded players - averaged 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game in six seasons with the Washington Mystics, and was a 2006 Second Team All-WNBA honree.

Sparks Acquire Marissa Coleman

The Sparks have acquired guard/forward Marissa Coleman from the Washington Mystics in exchange for guard Noelle Quinn. The trade brings Coleman - the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft - to LA and reunites her with former Maryland teammate Kristi Toliver. In 2011, she ranked 11th in the league with 51 three-pointers made.

Season Begins May 18

The Sparks will tip-off the 2012 WNBA regular season with back-to-back games against Western Conference rival Seattle, playing at the Storm on May 18 followed by their home opener Sunday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m. at STAPLES Center. The Sparks 16th season will feature a 17-game home schedule including eight weekend dates. LEARN MORE
