On April 3rd the Miami SOL and the AmericanAirlines Arena played host to finalists from throughout South Florida for the 2002 Nike/SOL Junior Hoop League Championships. Teams participating in the Championships were as follows: Carver Ranches Boys & Girls Club vs. Homestead YMCA (12 & under division) and Goulds Park -- Miami-Dade Parks vs. Lauderhill YMCA (14 & under division). Carver Ranches Boys & Girls Club and the Lauderhill YMCA walked away with the championship trophies along with the 8 & under champions - DeGeorge Boys & Girls Club, and the 10 & under champions -- Girl Scouts of Tropical South Florida.
All of the teams were winners as they enjoyed a fun-filled day of basketball, contests and giveaways with Miami SOL guard, Sandy Brondello, and Solee on the very court the Miami HEAT/SOL play their basketball games!

Congratulations to all of the girls, parents and coaches that participated during the 2002 Nike/SOL Junior Hoop League season! The Miami SOL appreciates your support and looks forward to your participation again next season.
In an effort to help support the flourishing popularity of women sports across the country, the SOL operates the Nike/SOL Junior Hoop League (NSJHL) during the winter. The NSJHL serves as an umbrella for many of the local YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, Girl Scouts and city recreational basketball league programs to help garner exposure for girl's basketball between the ages of 7-17.
As part of the NSJHL, SOL players and coaches visit local youth organizations and schools to promote the importance of sportsmanship and conduct clinics to enhance the overall basketball experience.
