For the sixth consecutive year, Maloof Sports & Entertainment and the Monarchs joined forces with the Sacramento Community in an effort to fight breast cancer by participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Cal Expo.
More than 100 MS&E team members signed up for Team Monarchs and joined approximately 25,000 Sacramento area supporters, activists and survivors in the run/walk event. In supporting the race, the Maloof family paid the entry fees for all team members, plus one guest.
After the race, the team put on the Monarchs Experience, which included the Sport Court, an arts and crafts station, performances by the Hip Hop Crew, a bounce house for the kids and other fun activities for the whole family.
This is the 11th consecutive year the Monarchs have adopted Breast Health Awareness as a community initiative and the team has designated the July 1, Monarchs vs. Minnesota Lynx game as "Breast Health Awareness Night.”
The first 5,000 Monarchs fans in attendance on July 1 will receive a collectible Scarf at the door. Other special activities include a pregame survivor reception, as well as other elements taking place on the court.
The Monarchs “Breast Health Awareness Night” game is in addition to the ongoing, year round presence the Monarchs have taken in the community in support of the thousands affected by breast cancer.
