Sacramento Monarchs Host Reading Timeout at the Firehouse Community Center in Sacramento
Sacramento Monarchs players Chelsea Newton and Kristin Haynie visit children from the Mutual Assistance Network of Del Paso Heights after-school program and host a Reading Timeout


Sacramento, July 17, 2007 --- As part of the WNBA’s Read to Achieve campaign, Sacramento Monarchs players Chelsea Newton and Kristin Haynie visited children from the Mutual Assistance Network of Del Paso Heights and hosted a Reading Timeout. The players read a book to the children and then hosted an interactive question and answer session. Each child received a goodie bag complete with a new book and Monarchs bookmark.


Read to Achieve is a year-round campaign to help young people develop a lifelong love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. Reaching an estimated 50 million children a year, Read to Achieve is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports.
