Kayte Christensen: Confessions of a T.V. Addict

For all of you who tuned in to “The Bachelorette” this Wednesday night, what you really tuned in to was “The Most Disappointing Rose Ceremony Yet.” Not only were the family visits as boring as watching the AMC channel on digital cable, but Trista kept creepy Russ. What in the world is she thinking? She keeps saying that she is making her decisions based on the feeling she gets in her gut, but I am convinced she is confusing “butterflies” with gas.

However, Ryan, has gone up one notch higher in my opinion and Charlie has proven to be not as high maintenance as I thought after their individual date. But let’s talk about Ryan’s date in Vail. Not only did it seem to me that Trista was the most comfortable there with him, his family and friends, but that she is falling for this guy deeper and deeper and all he has to do is sit there and be himself. In my opinion, he is the only one that has been genuine and honest the entire program since day one, while every other guy has had their moments of trying to impress and in a way overdo things just a bit. For Trista, I think Ryan is moving along just at the perfect pace.

Charlie, on the other hand, has so much more hair than his brother that it makes me wonder if he has implants or is a Rogaine user. How is that possible? Anyway, I was impressed by the fact that after Trista left, Charlie turned to his family and wanted to know what they thought and really seems to value their opinions a great deal, which I think speaks a lot of the type of person he really is. I wonder if after next week’s overnight individual dates Trista will peal off yet another layer of his glitzy persona.

Since I don’t care for “Bachelor #3” (better know as “The Molester”), I will only speak of Russ briefly. The man honestly creeps me out. He is overbearing and possessive and seems to be trying really hard to impress Trista rather than get to know her and let her get to know who he really is. And as for Greg, I think he is a bit on the artsy side for Trista. She is not a girl that will be living in a studio apartment in New York with a kitchen that is used as a storeroom. I think she feels like she is being superficial due to the fact that she couldn’t help but feel a bit disgusted and appalled by his living conditions. Who cares? She is in this thing to find someone that she is compatible with, and even though he wrote her a song and has beautiful eyes those are not things to base long term relationships on. This is her time to be overly critical.

However, I cannot end this entry without talking about the gifts they all got Trista for her 30th birthday. Wow. To think that four different men could come up with four completely different gifts that were amazing. Ryan drew her a picture of a white tiger, her favorite animal (that’s why he is going to win); Greg wrote her a birthday rap, which quite frankly was terrible but he has to get credit for his creative side; Charlie gave her a little silver toad with a crown on its head which is symbolic of the whole process; and last and certainly least, Russ. He got her a framed picture of the sunset which he wished he could have shared with his “best friend” which is why he creeps me out. He hardly knows her and he is already obsessive. Again I must say, as far as presents go, job well done. They actually put thought into it and didn’t just get her a bracelet from Tiffany’s.

Either way, I hope next week proves to be a more entertaining program. I assume that the “over night” individual dates are going to get a bit intense and hopefully my boy Ryan makes it into the next round. I don’t see him getting real pushy, but if I were Trista I would be scared of Russ and accidentally “forget” to show him the envelope which gives them the option of staying together in their own room. If not, hopefully the people running the show keep a good eye on her to make sure she comes out alive.

Until next week!
