Don't I feel like a complete fool? Tonight's “Bachelorette” was an hour and a half special and ten minutes into the dang thing I had a grin on my face from ear to ear. And what the heck for, I ask myself? I am a victim of reality TV. Yes, people, believe it. The reason I started watching these programs was because of the utter stupidity behind the whole concept. And there I was, so caught up in the whole fairy tale you would think I was a Physical Therapist/Miami Heat dancer with "everything" on the line. But really, what does Trista actually have on the line? I was watching some awards thing on TV the other day and there she was, presenting some music award. If she didn't find the man of her dreams on this show her whole life really would be over. She would have to sit back and accept the fact that she has gotten nothing out of this show, or the first one she was on for that matter. I'm just waiting for her and Regis to start up a talk show. Come on now, Trista, you're not fooling any of us.
Alright, alright, I will quit picking on Trista. She isn't in the easiest situation having to turn down so many good looking guys, but, hey, it could be worse. Men could find her unattractive and she would never have to turn down any sexy successful men and she wouldn't feel so awful all the time (I mean all the time in between her exotic dates).
Now let's talk about the four "true loves" left in Trista's life. We have Charlie, Russ, Ryan, and Greg. Greg was the only one of the four who didn't get an individual date with Trista. Charlie on the other hand got the "Prince Charming" date, Russ got the "We need to work through our issues" date, and Ryan, my personal favorite out of the four left, got the "I think you are the sweetest man alive, write me a poem and swim with the dolphins" date. Russ, who I think should have never made it into the next round let alone past the first round, has issues because Trista thinks he is pushy because he wants to molest her all the time. In my opinion, this guy is one of those guys that is either a) insecure about himself or b) wants everyone to see what is his and rub it in their face. One of those guys that feels he has to publicly display his affection in a manner which, if everyone else were like this, would require a rating in order to walk down the street. There would have to be a "G" street where children of any age could walk down, a "PG-13", an "R", a "XXX" and then a "Russ" street. If I were Trista, this would be a sign to me that he regards his women as toys and something to put on display. I would have to say "Peace out, Russ."
Charlie, on the other hand, is very charming and gallant. He has a look about him which shows confidence, security, and success…these just so happen to be three things all women are searching for. However, I saw a warning sign go up when he was talking about Trista being intimate with other men during the show. So I guess now-a-days if you kiss a guy you are automatically barred from "engaging in any sexual relations" with any other man for the rest of your life. It's like he has put a brand on you and you are forever more his property. Charlie is flashing JEALOUSY at me and that is not something that is fun to deal with. Do yourself a favor, Trista, say goodbye before it gets even more complicated with meeting his parents.
Now what about Greg? We don’t really know much about him other than that he plays the guitar and Trista digs his eyes. So far, she has kept the guy that bought her a Tiffany bracelet, wrote her a song, and has written him multiple poems. Charlie, the only one that hasn't done anything "creative" to appeal to Trista, only had to show up and look pretty!!! Either way, I don't see anything in my crystal ball about him. So far the show hasn't really focused on him too much. However, I do see a song in Trista's near future.
Last but not least, the picture of sensitivity himself, Ryan. What a great guy. He is timid and shy in groups but much more open during his one-on-one time. He's a firefighter, tall, dark, handsome, isn't opposed to expressing his feelings for his girl, not to mention he isn't all macho and striving to prove that he is a "manly man" around all the guys. After his date with Trista, when all the guys were in the kitchen, he was very respectful of Trista and their date by keeping it private. He said just one thing: it was everything he imagined and more! Probably because he wasn't expecting to go into the date and end up making out by the end of the evening; he just wanted to get to know Trista. At least he has kept things in perspective. Shoot, if I was still single and he weren't picked in the end, I would be on a flight to Vail!!!
Until next week my fellow reality TV junkies!!!
